QTL Mapping of Mineral Element Contents in Rice Using Introgression Lines Derived from an Interspecific Cross

Developing rice varieties with increased mineral element content is the most cost-effective and efficient approach for alleviating human malnutrition nutrient deficiencies. In this study, quantitative trait loci (QTLs) were mapped in 96 introgression lines derived from a cross between elite Korean Oryza sativa japonica cultivar “Hwaseong” wild rufipogon (IRGC105491). The population was grown two locations, Fe, Zn, Mn, Ca contents of brown measured. Six QTLs identified on chromosomes 6, 8, 10, all O. alleles values. positions qFe10 qZn10 further defined; higher Fe Zn are related to 375-kb segment markers RM1873 RM25612. combined analysis whole-genome sequencing data, spatiotemporal expression profile, gene suggested that transcription factor gene, namely homeobox 9 (LOC_Os10g33960) marks as high potential candidate associated and/or regulation. This study provides valuable information genes rufipogon, which may be vital developing without any penalty traits agronomic importance.
